The TOP Collection exhibition series draws on the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum’s collection of some 39,000 photographs and moving-image works, presenting selections from a different angle each time. The theme for the second installment of the 2026 program is “food.”

Eating sustains the body, and “food” and “life” are inseparable. Photographs viewed through the lens of “food” elicit memories tied to meals and illuminate our connections with others, our current environment, and questions about social issues such as aging and solitary eating. The exhibition unfolds in four sections and features the work of 14 artists: Shimao Shinzo, Hara Mikiko, Noguchi Rika, Ushioda Tokuko, Kawauchi Rinko, Narahara Ikko, Yamada Minoru, Miyamoto Ryuji, Takeya Izuru, Miyazaki Manabu, Tsuchida Hiromi, Narahashi Asako, Iwai Masaru, and Orimoto Tatsumi. We hope the exhibition will be an occasion to reflect on what “eating” means, and what it means to “share our lives with others.”
