■Story
A man wandering around looking for a place to die, carrying the remains of his dead wife.
In Yamaga, a town with an old atmosphere, he sees a resemblance of his wife,
Yukari, to a woman in a “lantern girl” poster for a festival.
Yamaga lanterns are elaborate traditional Japanese crafts made from washi paper.
Fascinated by its beauty, the man starts working as an apprentice to a lantern craftsman,
but it doesn’t stop him from feeling lonely and lost.
A year passes with his wife's ashes still in his possession.
On the day of the lantern festival, he decides to leave the town.
But then, a woman who claims to be Yukari's twin sister, Akari, appears and tells the man,
"I want to ask a favor of you." Around the same time, strange phenomena occur around him.
