Since its birth in 1826, photography has been recording the global environment, the times, society, culture and individual life, while at the same time fulfilling its mission to "communicate" the beauty and splendour of the Earth, various phenomena beyond imagination, major incidents and social situations to its contemporaries and to the future. The mission of photography has been to "create the communication".
Photography can be said to be an image of the world that "captures the heart" of the photographer using the camera. Today, the global environment and human society are facing complex challenges, and we are entering an era of turmoil. And with the advent of generative AI and virtual reality, photography is also standing at a time to redefine its reason for existence and new value in a different vector than before.
WONDER Mt. FUJI was realised with the support and cooperation of 18 photographers active in Japan and abroad who share an awareness of the issues facing photography. Under the keyword 'WONDER', which is the driving force of sensitivity, the works created by superimposing 'Mt. FUJI', which everyone has tried to photograph at least once, will be used to think and talk about 'What is photography?
This is an exhibition where visitors can think about and discuss the questions "What is photography?, “ Where are we heading?”
