Sliced (series)

This is a graphic piece created using an originally developed software. When an image is inputted, five layers are generated, with higher resolution in the front and lower resolution in the back, and the graphics are created by "scraping" the layers. The scraping process was done as if drawing with a pen tablet. This is an attempt to expand the cut-up method to the inter-pixel and inter-resolution space and reveal what is hidden behind digital images. The three works created for the solo exhibition "Slice of the universe" (MAKI Gallery, Tokyo) in 2020 were chosen based on the theme of "a destroyed interface." Each was processed from the original images of " the mouse videoed for DanmatsuMouse," "the keyboard videoed for Shotgun Texting," and " a cracked windowpane found in a train station in Brooklyn."
