Kiss, or Dual Monitors

This work consists of two monitors, both showing a face with its eyes closed and arranged in a way that makes them look like they are kissing. The work aims to evoke the sense of tactility, which has also been mentioned in the Body Paint series, and which is looming on the surface of devices in an age where information devices are becoming increasingly physical. The work was created in conjunction with an open studio at the Nars Foundation in Brooklyn, and was made in the form of an open production where visitors were photographed on site. About 20 people were selected out of the 50 that were eventually photographed. The selection was based on racial and gender diversity. However, when the faces move too much, the video frame would become too obvious, so the priority was given to those with moderate facial movement ( because of this, most of the children were not selected).

It was initially planned to be lifted up on a steel base, but it ended up being suspended from the ceiling by wires. In the exhibition "Hello World: For the Posthuman Age" at Art Tower Mito, it was developed into an installation with a large number of cables spread on the floor, and later into "The Kiss" combined with a 3D printed arm sculpture.
