Fluttering Frame

This is a video piece commissioned for the crowdsourcing episode of NHK's TV program "TECHNE: Classroom of Images." People from various countries worldwide were asked via crowdsourcing to film an image of a fluttering Japanese flag that NHK shows at the end of each broadcast on a TV set in their living room. As the Great East Japan Earthquake shook people's trust in the land, the aim was to reconfirm the meaning of a country's framework, which were (expected to be) fading away through the Internet. It also shows how images from different countries can be easily connected by applying the common framework of 16:9 video equipment worldwide.
