ASCII sutra-transcribing

This is a performance piece in which a computer reads out each letter of ASCII art ( a technique that has been used for a long time to express images using only letters and their shading), and a human being writes them down like a sutra, which eventually generates graphics. As in actual sutra copying, the human only needs to concentrate on "copying" the words and does not need to understand the content. However, by writing them down correctly, an image will eventually appear. At the first performance held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, the audience was given a piece of paper to write on and was encouraged to participate. The characters used were chosen from the Heart Sutra, but the generated Image was the ? emoji.
