The Road Movie
Webcams mounted on a traveling bus were set to capture images of the surroundings every five minutes, and to send this data to an online server where the images were recorded and mapped onto a template of an origami bus. Users could download the template from the website, print it out at home, and fold it into a bus displaying the views surrounding this actual bus at a given time. The resulting three-dimensional reproduction is at once an interior object and a window that shows a distant landscape from across the web.
*The Road Movie won the Golden Nika of the 2006 Prix Ars Electronica Net Vision category.
